The Dhangar Weavers

A community of weavers. A lifetime of craft.

The Dhangar are Maharashtra's traditional shepherd-weavers. For generations, they have reared Deccani sheep and woven their wool into ghongadi — thick, dense blankets and asanas used across the Deccan plateau.

The pit-loom they use is one of the oldest weaving technologies still in practice. The weaver sits in a pit dug into the earth, operating the loom with their feet while their hands work the shuttle. It is slow, physical, and deeply skilled work.

We work directly with these weavers — no middlemen, no factories, no compromise. Every asana we sell carries the name of the artisan who made it.

not merchants.

Every product we sell is something we use ourselves. If it doesn't meet our standard, it doesn't leave the loom.
